Our shapes are fabricated from virgin expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is a rigid, closed-cell insulation material that is white in color. It is a nontoxic material that provides Class 1 flame spread rating (25 or less) and is environmentally sound. Initially made from a petroleum byproduct, virtually all of our scrap is recycled into other post-consumer uses or back into the manufacture of other foam products.
The application of coatings to foam is limited only by your imagination. Our standard application involves the application of a fiberglass reinforcing mesh embedded in an acrylic modified cementitious base coat. The base coat must be tailored to the end finish of the element . Some finishes require different base coats than others. We also utilize epoxy resins, urethane, paints and gypsum-based coatings to foam. Application of finish can vary from conventional stucco to faux paints, a synthetic granite look or glass mosaic tile.
